I would like to caveat this by first saying I think subscriptions for car features are absolutely stupid, and I would actually get behind making them illegal.

Now, devil's advocate time.
I can see a POSSIBLY valid argument for the pay up for more power subscription.
An increase in power would put more load on the battery and motors, and while the car is under warranty, that could make it more prone to failures that are covered on that warranty. So the argument could be made that you're paying a premium because you're adding some risk to Mercedes that you'll be in for an expensive fix.

The obvious counter argument is that, if that is the case, then it should be a one time payment to unlock it, not a yearly subscription, and once the car is off warranty, anyone should be able to do it for free. Absent of those options, it's 100% a scam, but if they gave you those options, I would begrudgingly say "Okay, despite being stupid, this does make some sense".

But again. THIS IS STUPID.
If I went to a dealership and they explained this subscription to me, there is a non-zero chance I would walk away from the car completely and go by something else.
