Updated Dec 12th 2022 with Craig Button's draft list. There's a definite top 4 that has emerged in most lists but it seems broken with Craig pushing Michkov down another spot to 5. All of Bedard, Fantilli, and Carlsson are putting up generational level statistics at D-1, while many in Russia believe that Michkov could be the most talented goal scorer of all time.

Not pleasant to think about, but if the flames continue to perform middle of the league, there are still some extremely intriguing players that could add a ton to our franchise that may be available mid first round.

My favourite potential targets:

Nate Danielsen - 6'1 185lbs RHS C from Red Deer. Captain of Wheat Kings and 37 points in 31 games so far this season. FC Hockey has him the highest at 9, but most have him in the 17-21 range. He's 21 on Button's list.

Calum Ritchie- 6'2 190lbs RHC C/RW from Brampton. Assistant Captain for Oshawa Generals. Bit of a disappointing season so far, with 25 points in 27 games. Turned heads at the Hlinka where he put up 10 points in 5 games. Generally ranked right around #10 but the aforementioned slow start in the OHL this year has him falling. Button has him at 19 in the rankings.

Riley Heidt- 5'11 179 lbs LHS C, from Saskatoon, Assistant Captain for Prince George Cougars. 42 points in 29 games. 6 in 5 at the Hlinka. Firmly in the 15-20 range across the board, Button has him at 18,

Koehn Ziemmer- 6'0 194 lbs RHS RW from Mayerthorpe AB, linemates with Heidt on the Cougars. 42 points (19 g) in 29 games. Heavy on the puck and laser shot.

These are the 4 I would be looking at hardest in our potential range, unless someone unexpected starts falling. Yes, 3/4 are prairie boys but some loyalty is ingrown that way. All having pretty excellent offensive seasons, all heavy and hard on the puck.
