The lines I would like to see:
The Drafted Line
Ruzicka - Backlund - Mangiapane
These three hooked up for a goal a few games ago and it was an absolute snipe. Mangiapane is just flat out better with Backlund, and Ruzicka seems to be making Backlund better
The Responsible Snipers Line
Coleman - Lindholm - Toffoli
Three guys who can match up with anyone. Play them against the Auston Matthews, Tage Thompson, Jack Eichel type super lines and I bet they'll come out on top.
The Balanced Skill Line
Huberdeau - Kadri - Phillips
I just think Phillips' speed and soft skill can help Huberdeau, in a similar manner to how Anthony Duclair helped him last year.
I also think Kadri's snarl, speed down the middle, and puck skill can help Huberdeau, in a similar manner to how Sam Bennett helped him last year.
I also think Huberdeau's size and cycle game can help Kadri (he had a lot of chemistry last year with guys like Rantanen and Nichushkin) as well as Phillips.
The fourcheckstra Line
Dube/Lucic/Lewis - Dube/Lewis- Dube/Ritchie/Lewis
Adding a top nine forward to your spare line is exactly where you get depth from. There are options, but it starts with having Dube on that line. It should not be considered a demotion for him. He's the fastest player on the team sans Kylington, and his speed is exactly what that line needs.
Still room for a Pelettier, Zohorna, or Zary callup to really make it potent but this line would be a marked improvement over anything we've trotted out as a so-called fourth line. Maybe Lucic can find some of that level of play he had opposite Dube back in the 2020 play-ins. Maybe Lewis can find some of that level of play he had in last year's playoffs. Maybe Ritchie can be a Garnet Hathaway type for us. But the line is sorely missing someone who can drive the puck north.
