At the end of the day I respect that the Flames are treating the players as actual people rather than a commodity. I am sure at the end of this, the players know the organization has their backs. Probably goes a long way in establishing that trust and relationships with the players and their peers that the team will support their players. There are some teams out there that probably would not have given the player the run way if it meant more cap space or the opportunity to get help in the short term.
