I'm a tad bit surprised at the level of production for Tkachuk to start the year and credit to him for the start. I also remind myself that the style in the eastern conference is more open vs. the west and that he is still surrounded by some quality players. Tkachuk understands how he needs to play to compliment players around him.
However lets see what happens in the playoffs. The speed of the game amps up not only in the west, but also in the east. This is what gives him trouble and was my biggest gripe with him on the Flames, he couldn't hack it in playoff hockey. At the salary/term he wanted, if he can't elevate in the playoffs, I'm happy to let him go.
