I was surprised on how many people had never heard of it. They thought it was hilarious, but had never heard the saying before.

About 20-25 years ago when referring to one of our unusually warm winters, I used the term "brown Christmas" and some guy was like "what the HELL does that mean?!" Another common phrase I thought everybody knew, or at least was self-explanatory.
