I think it's rarer for a player after signing his first big money contract to actually perform equal to or greater than his previous seasons efforts that garnered the contract he earned.
I don't think it's 99 percent but it's darned high, likely has a lot to do psychologically with self imposed pressure to perform.
Not anything like "yeah I just made 20m bucks! Time to take the foot off the gas!"
No. I thinknits just a simple trying to live up to expectations
I'd also wager like MOST players in their first big contract that the 2nd season (next year for mangiapane) will be a much better performance.
