5 THINGS - FLAMES @ CAPITALS

3. FAST FACTS

LAST TIME IN WASHINGTON: The Flames last trip to Capital One Arena was back in October of 2021 when they took on the Capitals amid a five-game road swing. Elias Lindholm was the star on that day, recording his second-career NHL hat-trick, including an even-strength goal, a shorthanded goal, and the overtime winner. Andrew Mangiapane also tallied for Calgary and Dan Vladar started and won his first game as a member of the Flames, stopping 25 shots, helping the Flames to a 4-3 overtime victory.

Alex Ovechkin, Capitals aim to douse Flames

Alex Ovechkin is inching closer toward his 800th goal, and moving within 10 of the milestone was perhaps more significant for the psyche of his team, considering how things are going for the Washington Capitals lately.

Capitals host the Flames after overtime win

LAST 10 GAMES: Capitals: 3-6-1, averaging 2.6 goals, 4.1 assists, 4.1 penalties and 11.3 penalty minutes while giving up 3.2 goals per game.

Flames: 4-3-3, averaging 2.9 goals, five assists, 4.6 penalties and 10.4 penalty minutes while giving up three goals per game.

'KEEPING IT SIMPLE'
Dube says getting back to basics has been key to success on this trip

Yes, Dillon Dube is happy to have scored in back-to-back games.

Who wouldn't be?

And while tallying his second and third goals of the season was welcome, the fact they helped the Flames grab three of four points in a victory over the Flyers and a shootout loss to the Pens is what really matters to him.

"It's not so much the scoresheet that I'm worried about, it was just how I was playing, to be honest, to start the year," said Dube Friday, following the team's practice at Capital One Arena in Washington. "I wasn't too happy with it, I couldn't really figure out my game and try and pick up where I left off last year.#
