I am not a fan of how they are playing, they look very slow out there and I think that's mainly due to them over thinking it. Every time our D makes a pass, they take an extra second to evaluate, when forwards make passes, they take extra second to find their linemates, nobody "feels" where their linemates will be, the game is played too slowly compared to last year.
I also hate the whole strategy of dump and chase -> cycle -> get puck to D -> weak point shot -> try to get the puck and cycle again -> Pass to D etc. They have barely any high danger chances and rely on the luck of a rebound instead of making plays. Most of the forwards have absolutely no creativity in the offensive zone.
They are clearly trying, and I like how they keep possession in the zone, but they need to be more creative. Every team knows exactly what the Flames will be doing, and the Flames players are afraid of making mistakes. They need to be more relaxed out there.
