I am the same way. But, hard luck story... my mom asked me on his behalf, blood is thicker than water, he'd be responsible with your vehicle...yada, yada.
Don't get me wrong, it's a truck, trucks are meant to be used. It's not like I'd lend this guy my Roush Mustang or something. Not even my wife gets wheel time on that one. But if you damage it, fix it. Don't smoke in it when I specifically ask you not to when you take it. And don't bold face lie to my face. I get it, you're broke as a joke, and couldn't pay to fix it anyway. At least admit it, and don't lie to my face when we both know ya dun goofed.
In hindsight, yes. I should have just lent the guy $200 bucks and dropped him at uHaul. Unfortunately, he probably wouldn't have even qualified to rent from them.
