Yeah, that's the thing. Using hyperbole for rhetorical effect is one thing. Making that hyperbole the basis of one's whole argument just makes one look like one hasn't got a real case to argue.
The fact is, it is
not possible at this time for Markstrom to show that the Edmonton series was not a fluke. Anything he does for the rest of the regular season can be dismissed, and I am confident it will be dismissed by the sort of fans who are determined to be unhappy. Only next spring's playoffs will tell.
Until then, all we can look at is how Markstrom is playing from day to day, and whether he's improving. At present he appears to be. He was playing too deep in his crease for a while, and a number of posters have mentioned that he seems to have corrected that. This is likely to make a big difference to his results. But it can't make any difference to his playoff results until the playoffs actually start.
