Yup his quotes since the trade seem to confirm this.

He's performing well and let's be honest, he's a good player. His strength is being strong on the puck and making smart plays in the neutral zone. And he's got some hands around the net. Those things will always get him points in the regular season, particularly in the early part. We've seen what he can do in the playoffs; almost nothing.

Now, Huberdeau is pretty similar in terms of playoff history, so we needn't get ahead of ourselves. But I like the chip on his shoulder he seems to be developing, from the surprise trade to the Sutter dump comment. He seems like a guy who's becoming MORE motivated.

Tkachuk on the other hand, he seems like a guy who's getting pretty, pretty, comfortable.
