Are parents taking their kids to emergency with coughs, colds and flus again? Why???

May be a coincidence of circumstance, but here we go:
My mother went to emergency in Red Deer at 1:00 pm on this Wednesday (November 16). I know because she was so entirely crippled by colitis and diabetes that I had to help her to the car as she struggled to suppress the nausea, incontinence, and weakness she has been dealing with since Thanksgiving.
She just texted me that she is being seen by a doctor, at hour 9 of waiting in a ####ing meat-market of humanity for the entire day.
"If you can spend 10- 15 hours waiting in emergency it’s not an emergency" is...nope, I can't say anything civil right now in response to such a ####wad take. She couldn't eat, ####, sleep, regulate her blood sugar, and many other fun stuff for 40+ days because she couldn't - and should never be asked to - suffer all of that outside of her home for those 9+ hours. And I don't blame her.
In the 25+ years she has suffered with these episodes it has never been a problem to have her treated in a timely manner at any emergency room throughout Central Alberta. Her treatment has significantly declined since May 2020, and I can't help knowing exactly why.
