As for the holiday itself, it sounds like they ditched the holiday for Robert E Lee's birthday in January and made a generic state holiday for day after Thanksgiving. That doesn't seem very nefarious.

I would say you're likely right, but knowing all of the wild voter suppression tactics that people of color have faced in Georgia and the importance of this run off to that same group, I can understand why they're ultra sensitive to coincidences like this.
