Although I am firmly on Team Ukraine here, there is a sadness across the board to the actual soldiers and their families and this entire situation across the board on both sides. Nobody will actually win this in the end and the ill affects will be felt on both sides for generation.

At the end of the day, the game of life is played by a small group of mostly men in power, who have the power to stop tragedy like this or minimize damage. It's the little guy and his family who end up paying the price for the decisions from above.

Not every Russian solider is who we think they are and the same goes for Ukraine as well. I know I know, Russia has no business in Ukraine, and that is true. Does this same apply to our beloved Canadian soldiers who were injured or killed in Afghanistan?

What would we say about some Afghan who hypothetically was cheering and entertained that John from Calgary, Canada having his leg's and arm's blown off by a roadside bomber? Now this poor solider will have a lifetime of tragedy ahead of him and will be completely ignored and forgotten by his government, associated ministries and the general population for all intensive purposes. Ironic thing being that this has happened under both Liberal and Conservative government's in power.

Just because we are all mostly on the same side of the same cause, doesn't mean that the tragedy in all of this is any less if the situation was reversed in some ways.
