Right now, based on everything happened to this point, if I were in his skates I'd be looking for a different opportunity.
Which isn't to say I think he's been miss-handled, but from his POV he probably wants a larger chance at the NHL level.
If I were him I'd be looking at a team like Seattle or Arizona where I think I'll get ample opportunity. Less likely in a team trying to win now.

100% agree. Considering NHL minimum wage, you have to bet on yourself and find an organization where you may get a chance
He’s proven what he can do in the AHL, there’s a chance there’s a team out there where the roster and coaching philosophy are a fit
