May stressed that the Greens and the Liberals were not merging and there were no side deals to secure an agreement.
“This is an extraordinary expression of putting progress and principle ahead of politics as usual,” she said.
“The country is at stake. The planet is at stake.”
She said that although she doesn’t agree with all Liberal policies, she made it clear she supports Dion in his bid to become prime minister.
“I see in Mr. Dion a true leader for this country.”
May said there was nothing stopping the Greens from making similar, non-compete deals in other ridings.
But Dion said that wouldn’t happen with the Liberals. “I will not do that for another person, other than Madame May, because I know how much she has been good for the environment,” he said.
