What happen over time is that many of these young people shift right as they get older.
With an aging population, they may actually see more people shifting right as time goes on.
Maybe (hopefully) not by 2024; but things could be different 10-20 year from now, even if the new 20 year olds at the time are very left leaning.

Young people today understand that major action on climate change is needed, or else they simply won't have much of a future, and their kids & grandkids may not have one at all. This realization won't go away as they get older, if anything it will get more pronounced as the onset of climate change gets more severe over time.
And as dino pointed out, America and the world are moving further away from religious doctrine and becoming more progressive when it comes to human rights.
Then there's the increasing reality of automation and AI playing a greater and greater role in economies here and around the world. I suspect that the idea that capitalism is the be-all-end-all of economic systems, will fade over time.
