There are a few key differences though. Something like 75-80% of Chinese internet users actively use WeChat already, whereas Twitter's user base is much smaller.
And it's more useful in China, where credit and debit cards are less common than in a lot of other places, and where other mobile payment options Apple Pay and Google Pay either don't work or have had little adoption.
So WeChat took a platform that basically everyone uses already and solved a problem (making non-cash payments easier). Adding payment options into Twitter isn't really going to do that (at least in North America or Europe). Unless they absolutely knock it out of the park and implement it in a way that's far better than existing options, to the point where people will sign up for Twitter just to use it.
