I'm not up in arms about the comment, but it is a little patronizing and out of touch. It reminds me of one of the local civic politicians in the LML here when someone asked about the Metro Vancouver gas tax and that maybe reducing the tax on fuel to help people with the cost of living, he asked if the person ever thought of buying an electric car because you can save in the long run. Really, thanks man, never thought of that! Oh wait, if someone doesn't have money to pay for gas, they likely don't have the dough for a new car, or a house to plug it in at either.
The latter is obviously more tone deaf, but they are both starting to get close to "let them eat cake" territory.
