You guys are right for sure, but when you order something to ship it is actually a big fata around for a small business. I'd pin it at about 20 man minutes of extra work. Grab the item, wrap it for protection, box it, make an address label, affix the label, arrange shipping, and then pay for shipping.
Amazon has spoiled us all (myself included), but that charge is absolutely fair unless you believe people should work for free for you. The $5 part in particular. Like, if they were just to charge you their cost on shipping of - say - $12, then they would have literally paid to get you that part since they're paying staff to labour on your behalf without compensation. A typical business can't afford to do that.
