I don't think they foresaw the backlash being this intense. Or the revolt in the media by the players or that Miller/agent lying about the extent or nature of his supposed volunteer work would be totally exposed as fraudulent like it has been. The entire thing is so confusing and bizarre and no scenario you can come up with if you imagined you were Bruins brass is... good. Either they're totally incompetent and didn't vet any of this stuff, or they did, found out it was crap, didn't care and signed him over the objection of the entire roster.
