I saw Calvary alone and a friend of mine was a little upset I hadn't invited him along, but I know he hates depressing movies, and he asked me to spoil it a little: "The priest ends up being a pedophile or something, right?"

"No."

"But he is a bad person or something, right? Like, he did something to deserve being threatened with his life?"

"No, he's a good man."

"####, okay, I'm glad I didn't see it."

Similarly in "Banshees", Colin Farrell's 'Pádraic' does nothing to deserve the scorn of his former best friend 'Colm' (Gleeson). I'm sure my friend would hate this movie, but I felt a funny irony that me specifically going to see it without him kind of makes me 'Colm' to his 'Pádraic'...
I'm looking forward to seeing this. The combination of Farrell and Gleeson was so fantastic in In Bruges. That was a dark movie as well. How do you rate it compared to that?
