We were there as well. Definitely an exciting game, they put on a good show. I thought the refs lost control of the game by the end - our seats are a few rows behind the penalty box and after goal number 8 the refs couldn't figure out which penalized player should be coming back out of the box/bench. There were only seconds left so it didn't really matter, but was emblematic. I think it started in the first when a SJ player crosschecked a wrangler in the neck after the play right in from of the ref and no call, and things escalated from there. I actually thought more of the offsetting minors they called should have been SJ only penalties to try and keep things more under control.
Phillips stood out obviously, but you could tell that just from the box score. I thought Wolf deserved one of the three stars. While it wasn't a huge number of shots, there were quite a few quality chances, including two breakaways both of which he stopped cold. He read the game well and passed when smart and froze the puck when necessary. The first wranglers goal (which was called back for goalie interference at the other end) was a direct result of him making a great save on a 2 on 1 and then making a smart, quick pass to transition to the other end. He had a couple of great glove saves as well, although SJ first goal beat him glove side with no screen. Still, I thought he had a great game.
