I should clarify that it's not that I think they forced him, but that a player that's not ready convinces everyone he can play. It's happened countless times, but I'm sure it's not well documented as you won't find a lot of people willing to divulge.
Sheldon Souray in Edmonton is an obvious one where the team tried to force him to play, but I'm sure other people have plenty of examples where players played too soon before they were ready. It's not like being "ready to play" is a black and white issue. Ten doctors can disagree when someone is ready to play, and often a player and team can choose the doctor with the opinion they like most.
Not season starting injury, but we just saw the NFL do it with Tua Tagovailoa. It's a very common issue
