What he did was reprehensible, disgusting and inexcusable. Nobody is saying any different. But does that act mean he forfeits the rest of his life and ability to make a living?

I think no.
I would say show some true remorse first before proceeding with your privileged life. People like him should be in jail to rehabilitate before integrating back into society.
