We currently own a XC70, and had a V50 before that. My parents own a C30, and brother has both a XC70 and a V90. So definitely a lot of Volvo in our family at the moment! I can definitely vouch for the amazing seats, overall refinement, and those great Swedish design touches that are well thought out and intuitive. We've had a pretty good track record with their reliability too.
I love the look of the newer gens, but to me they were a bit of a stepback in a couple of areas. 1) the sloped roofs look cool, but it did reduce the interior cargo volume (both the 70 and 50 just swallow whatever cargo you put in there). 2)I find the 4-cylinder based engines less refined than their predecessors....the T6 in the XC70 pulls like a freight train and is buttery smooth. 3) Even though the iPads are pretty well thought out, as a used-car buyer I personally see them as being a bit of a ticking time-bomb (and so do the mechanics at Mr Volvo who I've talked to, as a lot of functions run through it).
Overall though, I think they are great cars and a really nice alternative to the Germans.
