A city of 75 000 that is a suburb of a city of 1.5 million does not need a hospital. What it does need is a 24 hour urgent care facility - which Airdrie has. The fact there is a staff shortage is another topic however.

This ties in with the debate going on over in the Alberta Politics thread. Smaller scale urgent care facilities that can handle 80-90% (I'm ballparking) of the cases that come in through the door would take a huge load off our ER's. Leave those for heart attacks, trauma incidents etc.
