Well, I dont know about all snowblowers as I have knowledge and experience with a grand total of 1, but you can usually control direction and elevation.
So I can swing the outlet nozzle and direct the snow to any side and up and away or almost straight down.
I have the same issue, one side of my driveway is only separated from my neighbour by about 3 feet, so I direct it straight down onto that patch of ground.
