Yesterday’s game felt eerily similar to the series we saw last year. Another come from behind win with Markstrom once again, spotting the Oilers a goal and to the same guys who had his number last season, Hyman and McDavid.
I know it’s just one game, but when McDavid and Draisaitl raise the level of their game in the playoffs, who’s to say we won’t see the exact same outcome again?
In my opinion, I’m just not sure Markstrom is the right goaltender to go up against the Oilers. They’re clearly in his head and it doesn’t look like he fixed that over the offseason.
In a series against your top rivals, I don’t think it matters who your #1 goalie is, you go with the best goaltender available and that’s probably Vladar. I mean heck, Jack Campbell’s time with the Oilers is only a few weeks old and they don’t seem to have a problem going to their #2 guy against us.
