It's a big deal for them because this is only their 5th season as a Division I team and they used to play in a community rink with a capacity of about 1,500.
For the Coyotes, I think it's a combination of certain water-carriers for the league trying to hype it up to make it not seem like the ridiculous joke it is, and the rest of the world staring at it like a car crash... for a franchise that's been nothing but car crashes for a quarter century.
From the photos I've seen of the building today, it looks pretty bare-bones even for a small college rink.
