As a displaced person myself I've come across many folk way better off than I who also live out of their vehicles. They have better vehicles and have better equipment to make surviving .....more comfortable but I think that speaks to how the middle class has been squeezed out now as well.

I'm just glad my only vice or addiction is cigarettes. That's costly enough as it is. Let alone a constant need for a fix for any narcotic be it pharmaceutical or street level. I cannot relate to that end of the spectrum of the displaced. It's easy to see how those ppl got there though.

The mental health crisis (a severe lack of proper care or even understanding of teach individuals issue) on top of a crushing depressing housing availability, the threads folk hang on by are frayed.

I have friends with severe addiction issues from improper mental health care, you can only do so much for them because their needs vastly outweigh your capacity to give. It's tough to watch friends disappear into the void while you're standing there helpless to do anything but hold your hand out to take them somewhere, anywhere they could get proper help, but they don't take it because they've been through the system before and came out feeling far worse about their situation than when they went in for the help.

I've seen and head with mine own eyes and ears how some of the front line health care workers speak to these people. Through no fault of their own mind you, they themselves are overworked, stressed beyond the maximum, and under constant barragement from those who need help, the government. They've had enough too. You can only care so much before you yourself get worn down.

I cannot imagine seeing 20-100 ppl a day rolling through your doors with a million stories you're trying to wade through to see if you can help them.

It's a deep and wide ocean of desperation for everyone.
I sincerely hope this doesn't come off as rude, but how did you end up living out of your car?

I'll probably answer my own question here to be honest. I was in Vancouver back in 2013 and there was lots of talk about the property market being out of control even back then. Sad to hear about the social issues the city is facing.
