We’ve been here 25 years and have discussed moving for a variety of reasons over the years. Politics is one factor in our evaluation but never enough to push us over the edge.

This time may be different though. Not specifically UCP policies, but if a plurality of Albertans elect this conspiracy and anger-fueled party (if they win) then this is not a province we want to live in. I’m already sick of the coarse yahoos; a Smith win will only embolden them.

So yes, government policies have a limited reach and governments have a limited life, but their impact on society can be much larger. I look at the US pre- and post-Trump. Sure there were things in motion already but he was a massive dose of fire accelerant for the decivilization of society.
