Over the summer, as a Canucks fan, all we heard from management and the players was how critical it was to get a strong early start... as that is what set them back last year. Even with their strong play in the 2nd half of last year, it wasn't enough to overcome their bad start last year.
So... we are seeing last year repeated again (but perhaps even worse this year). So it isn't just the performance over these last 6 games that is triggering fans... it is the repeat of what occurred last year and previous seasons.
Miller will likely get out of his current funk, but I was, along with many fans were surprised to see him extended. There is a reason why New York and Tampa Bay moved on from Miller, I imagine he has always been a defensive liability. His points were not enough for New York and Tampa Bay to offset that. You can't have a player like this and expect to go far in the playoffs (or even make the playoffs).
