Long article but based on the hit I just saw on tsn with Westhead here’s the coles notes:
- Davies and other players have said no sponsor can use individual players in their ads unless they have individual deals with the players. Deal with CSA isn’t good enough. Group shots will continue to be used.
- Fanatics can no longer sell Davies jerseys until a deal for royalties is negotiated for Davies
- players and staff can’t keep any gear they’re given for training camp. Seriously. They have to give it back at the end of camp.
- coaches and staff have to fly economy class
Meanwhile:
- CSA spent $11k on custom suits for board members for when they go to the WC
- CSA passed a resolution that CSA president can fly 1st class on all flights of 3 hours or more.
There’s lots of stuff in the article he didn’t discuss on the hit in TSN and a few things he mentioned on tv not in the article I think. The article goes into great detail about the insane deal between the CSA and a company called CSB. It reeks to high heaven of corruption.
Not a good look a month before the World Cup starts.
