No it's not a rumor. It was an idea floated by Craig Button, someone not an insider, in a purely looking at rosters on paper and generating discussion way.
That 20 second hit on TSN was enough to generate 2 articles and several segments of radio on fan 960, so I guess Craig did Flames based media a favor, but it's not a rumor because Craig made it up.
Frank Seravalli was confused when the fan 960 asked him about it. His response was basically I don't know what you guys are talking about, this isn't a thing, Kane does not want to be traded yet, and if he did, Calgary is not even a team expected to be high on his list of destinations. sorry!
