The point of Kane coming to Calgary is because they need a winger to make a strong push for the Cup. Getting him close to the deadline as a rental works to push the team closer to their goal for this year. Then he's off the cap next year and they can make changes to address next year's roster in the off season.
It isn't like Kane is coming here to sign here, it would only be to chase the Cup this year.
A Kane trade isn't imminent either. It will happen closer to the deadline no matter where he goes.... if he even gets traded.
