I also remember there being at least pedestrian crossing lights at intersections near schools. Now you can of have to hope you’re seen in the dark crossing the street. Not made any easier by people that park massive trailers for their landscaping businesses or jacked up trucks near crosswalks - even beyond the legal distance away, it’s tricky to see if someone is about to cross.
