I think most people are seeing if anything meaningful comes out. The NHL doing a week long investigation into years of alleged abuse and making one attempt to contact the victim by saying “DM us please” on Twitter isn’t really what I would call a meaningful effort to get to the bottom of it. Doesn’t mean Cole is any more or less guilty, of course. It just means they can’t keep him suspended for something they don’t have evidence of. But they’re a business, not the police.
Seems mostly the usual crowd who always swing in to defend alleged sexual abusers and go silent when the allegations turn out true are the ones jumping up and down with “I told you so” or whatever, as I’m sure they’re pretty desperate for any sign of innocence.
