This is just excusing poor design. There are a plethora of options available keeping to the loose and almost non existent rules of Reserve Retro. The Panthers are going with a baby blue jersey, something they didn't use until 2009, hardly that retro.
The horsehead jersey is über popular at the moment and they now have the black one as their official third. Pairing it with a red blasty or even white one would've been incredible, Minnesota flipped their white RR with green ones. They look great. More than one team went with white jerseys as well so you can't claim yellow is the only option.
The 2011 Heritage Classic jersey updated in white and red would've looked cool too. So many options, all better. Reverse Retro allows for a lot of creativity, and it seems the Flames lack it or dont listen.
