Long ago, a friend of mine observed that I argue like a street fighter, where most people argue like boxers. I tend to act as if my life was at stake and my opponent was likely to pull a knife on me. I've actually toned down some since those days, but I still have that weakness.
In this matter, I fear I'm a bit like Dr. Samuel Johnson. Someone once said that a debate with him was like a duel with pistols; and if his pistol misfired, he would just knock you down with the grip.

That's a neat explanation, thanks for sharing that. I've always liked a lot of what you say but have been routinely taken aback by how intense and far you're willing to go in a minor argument, lol.
