I think it is a trend in pro sports game ops. They must think it enhances experience.

I went to a lot of Blue Jays games in April this year after they had made some changes to the stadium. It was absurdly bright and way too loud (I'm in my early 30s, not quite Abe Simpson yet). In certain spots in the SkyDome it was impossible to talk to people I was at the game with when any music was playing. I noticed over the year it got less bright and they adjusted the volume a bit. Probably worth the email for anyone considering it.
