Duelling Outlooks

They should lose this one. Emotional games like last night suck the energy out of teams. Add in the fact that it was a long day yesterday with the whole early arrival red carpet thing and the late night travel heading into the B2B, this game is served on a platter for the Flames home opener.

If they find a way to win this I’ll be beyond impressed but everything’s against them.

Not making it a thing, but it is so wild that the Avs got in at 3:45am and they have to play tonight after playing last night.
Bad schedule optimization.

Great early test for the Avs. Easy, easy win last night where they never looked threatened. Followed up by a great Calgary team looking to stake their claim to the Western Conference.

Will be interesting to see how the boys come out tonight.

Sucks to have a scheduled loss as your 2nd game of the season, but the Avs were remarkably good in these situations last year. I'll be happy with a point and thrilled with 2. Not expecting much given the circumstances...except for an inevitable Naz hatty

Apparently the Flames have lost 12 straight home openers. That's crazy.

Might be the most obvious scheduled loss of the season. Not sure why the cup champs have to play B2B to open the season AND travel to do so. Hope the Flames start off as slow as their Alberta counterparts did last night.

A Naz-Sized Chasm

This will never be the same without Kadri

We’re all going to hate Kadri so much by the end of the first period tonight lol.

The Flames center depth has to be top 5.

I'm VERY curious to see how Kadri will perform this year.

At this time of the year last year, Kadri was a meh 2nd line center, on the wrong end of the age curve, already on the decline at 31 and one bone headed hit away from being suspended.

One year later, at 32 with an amazing career year behind him, a fat contract in his back pocket and a Stanley Cup ring on his finger, he is in large part the reason why many evaluate the Flames Center Depth as somewhere between the best in the league and Top 5ish.

So, it will be pretty interesting to see how that movie unfolds...starting tonight!

Kadri will score a hat trick, run Georgiev, and have a water bottle thrown at him by the end of the night.

Always seems to start slow. The Avs are a one line team again. They did nothing to replace Kadri and Bura and its showing these first two games some. You get away with it against Chicago. You dont get away with it against the might Flamers.

We don't play them again until January 18th. Then on February 25, which is another back to back for us while they're rested. Calgary fans are genuinely gonna think they're better than us.

Glad we showed life in the third. Too bad it took us that long to get going. We looked like we played a back 2 back against a fresh, quality team. Happy to see MacKinnon and Byram get their first goal. Rants was a stud out there. His passing is unreal. Less impressed with our depth but that was to be expected.

Calgary ended up with with a dang solid group of players after all the commotion. They could be quite competitive this year.

That play right there underscores how incompetent NHL officials are. Everyone that has watched Kadri more than once knows that he runs goalies, falls into goalies, etc whenever he can, which is what happened there. But it’s a Colorado penalty.
