If Alex Jones was repentant, and admitted he used dead kids as a platform to make money, the damages might be "silly". Likely his demeanor and clear contempt for the proceedings against him prejudiced the jury against him and provoked the judgment, and that's no one's fault but his own.

No amount of money can make up for your child dying and for a loathsome human being using that death to attack you. There could be no award I'd find ridiculous because it was too high, I want Jones to live in penury and for his life to be miserable and harassed just like his victims until he dies a deserved death.
