I don’t mind Notley but if there’s still a Trudeau/Singh coalition at the federal level I don’t think I’ll be voting NDP here.
Well under the Harper government the approval process was changed and transmountain was approved under it. Several groups sued and said the regulatory process wasn’t followed or the regulatory process didn’t meet the minimum requirements. Those groups won and the approval was killed by the courts. At this point Kinder Morgan went to to the Canadian government asking them to guarantee the permit. (Trudeau government). They didn’t at the time so kinder Morgan said they would stop construction and then the Trudeau government bought the line, successfully completed regulatory, the regulatory withstood another court challenge and now it’s a matter of time before it’s completed.

I’m trying to be non-partisan here but Harper screwed this one up and potentially Trudeau could have underwrote KMs losses rather than buying the line. Whether buying or underwriting losses was the better choice or if KMs plan was to divest regardless we don’t know.

I don’t understand the logic of is Singh/Trudeau is present than Notley shouldn’t be. I’d argue the Transmountain pipeline was bought because Notleys carbon tax gave Trudeau political cover. Not sure a Smith type government gets that treatment. Though that is pure speculation.

I agree with you on Trudeau I’d much rather have Carney or Freeland.
