That’s not how logic works. Sometimes logic is on both sides of an argument, or just one, but rarely does just sticking somewhere in the middle make for the most logical position. I didn’t take FormerPres’s posts as any more personal than you assuming Cecil’s emotional state or how grounded in the topic they were, for what it’s worth.

Logically, if that’s how we want to measure things, businesses exist to make money, therefore the most meaningful way to show appreciation for a business is to give it money (buying merch, tickets, whatever). The least logical way to show appreciation is hard to measure, but posting on an unofficial (unaffiliated) message board to the members of that board where no evidence of ownership being members exists… HAS to be in the running.

Happy to see how “more” logic supports some middle position, though.
