^I just reviewed Hocus Pocus 2 in the Disney+ thread. What a turd, you were right to jump ship.

Speaking of turds, I was really disappointed with Uncharted. As a fan of the source material I was both curious at how this would be adapted while also trying to keep an open mind and view this as its own thing. I found it to be a really bland mediocre action adventure film wearing an Uncharted skin.

The story takes some plot beats from Uncharted 4 to create a new origin story for Nathan Drake that falls flat. The character motivations and development is weak with cringe dialog that only serves to fill time between action scenes. I did like some of the action with a creative final battle but these veer too far into Fast and Furious style ridiculousness at times which takes away from the more Indiana Jones tone the rest of the movie takes.

Tom Holland's acting is fine but I couldn't help but feel he was playing a friendly neighborhood spider-man instead of an international treasure hunter. Mark Walhberg played himself and Sophia Taylor Ali's Aussie accent was just about the worst thing ever. Can't blame her too much for the poor performance when the writers made her character so boring and one dimensional.

Finally I didn't like how this teased an international adventure to exotic locations but felt like 95% of the movie was filmed in a studio. Overall it was fine to turn your brain off for 2 hours but I won't be losing any sleep waiting on the inevitable sequels. 5/10
