In an effort to be fair on this I’ve seen the other side of this commentary too which points out that the interviews you’re talking about are not compelling evidence of cheating, and that the statistical analysis is apparently not conclusive either (though I honestly don’t understand that well enough to comment). I’ve landed on “I don’t know” for now.
Apparently chess.com is going to release some sort of detailed statement in the near future but it will likely focus on Hans’ online games, not the OTB games that are the specific issue here. Though I suppose if he has lied about the extent of his cheating online that doesn’t look very good for this situation.
