The new commissioner seems to be wanting more of an emphasis put on the regular season. There is now recognition (and eventually a trophy) for the team that finishes top of the table.
Maybe a synchronized "Super Sunday" type event to end the season is on his radar, now that the regular season is supposed to mean more than in previous seasons. But in the EPL, for example, they've got relegation battles, Champions/Europa League spots, and of course the champions itself.
I can imagine that if the playoffs were set and the championship already clinched, it might be a pretty boring Super Sunday.
