There are four pipelines between Germany and Russia; Nordstreams 1 and 2 that are straight connections through the Baltic Sea, and two pipelines on the continent, one of which goes through Poland and the other through Czech and Slovakia (and Belarus).
If you remove the Baltic pipes from the equation, then Germany can't buy gas from Russia without either Poland or Czech+Slovakia agreeing to it, and without them also getting access to that gas. So if you blow up those sea pipes, it's no longer enough for Germany to make peace with Russia to get their precious gas.
Now, the whole thing might just be yet another Russian false flag operation that attempts to strike a wedge between various EU countries, but I wouldn't put it past the Polish. They're taking this war very seriously.
